“The Right to Write” Response #2

Julia Cameron is under the belief that to write in the best way, one must not try to come up with something perfect, something wonderful and beautiful, but just hang out on the page. Write what comes to mind. Honestly, this makes sense, you don’t have to start off perfect, it will hold you back and prevent you from wanting to write.

She also says that one must write towards a goal, you must be seeking something. Giving chase to what you want, be it a boy or improvement, it matters not. This is shown when she states, “You must aim toward it. You speed to get there, and when you do, the ‘there’ vanishes. You look up to see it again, shimmering in the distance. You write towards that.”

In this book, there are also writing prompts, I suppose you could call them. The one that came up while I was reading is pretty much grabbing 3 shits of 8 1/2 by 11 paper and write what you are feeling right now.
